Lions Park, Narangba QLD

Project Overview

A custom playground designed for multiple ages, more challenge and more play value.

When City of Moreton Bay set out to upgrade Lions Park in Narangba, the brief was clear: create a playground that could support children across a wide age range, with imaginative junior play, more challenging senior elements and strong climbing opportunities within a compact site.

Completed in April 2026, the new Lions Park playground now offers a layered play experience for children aged 2 to 15 years, combining custom design, ropes, nets, bouldering, climbing, shade and flexible access across the space.

Project Design

With limited space available, our team focused on maximising play value without overcrowding the site.

The custom Omnitech tower became the centrepiece of the playground, designed to offer height, climbing and imaginative play while also allowing us to create usable play space underneath the structure. This helped increase user capacity and ensured every part of the footprint worked harder for the community.

To support a broader range of ages and abilities, we incorporated a mix of active and exploratory elements, including bouldering, nets, ropes, climbing routes, spinning and swinging. The Spinner and Nexus Apostle added extra movement, challenge and variety, giving children more ways to test balance, strength, coordination and confidence.

Landscaping

The upgrade extended beyond the play equipment to improve the wider park setting.

Works included returning an existing site area to turf, adding new plants and trees, installing garden mulch and edging around existing gardens, and creating a new shelter, slab and access setting. A fence was also installed around the playground to support a safer, more defined play environment.

The combination of mulch and rubber surfacing helped balance natural texture with functional softfall areas, supporting safe and comfortable play across the space.

Project Outcome

The finished playground delivered on the original brief while also introducing additional elements that were identified during the design process as adding more value for the community.

By carefully using the available footprint, we were able to create a playground with more play opportunities, stronger user capacity and a better mix of junior and senior challenges. The final result is a compact but highly engaging space where children can climb, swing, spin, explore and imagine, all within a shaded and thoughtfully landscaped setting.

Lions Park is now a more inclusive, active and inviting destination for Narangba families, giving children from toddlers through to older primary and early high school ages a place to play, challenge themselves and connect.
